The M60E3 is an improved version of the M60 general-purpose machine gun developed by the United States after World War II. The M60 debuted fulfilling the requirements for a general-purpose machine gun, but various problems became apparent during actual combat. The E3 version was developed to solve these problems. It was made lighter and the handle and bipod position were improved, but it was eventually replaced by the more reliable M240 machine gun. However, there were also those who appreciated its performance, and the Navy Special Forces SEALs and others continued to use this gun even after the M240 was released. Furthermore, its rugged design became popular in the world of action movies, and it added luster to masterpieces as a "big gun" operated by muscular actors.

Takara Tomy's 1/12-scale "Little Armory" model kit of the M60E3 comes with soft resin belt-link bullets! It can be assembled with a short barrel if you prefer, too.
